    President & CEO

    Synapse Care Solutions

With more than 30 years in neonatal nursing, our next speaker has built a career that looks nothing like a traditional NICU nursing path.

She is a neonatal nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, entrepreneur, and international consultant.

Her path “beyond the bedside” began in 2002 as a member of the Children’s Medical Ventures WeeCare faculty, teaching developmental care courses.

This led to a role as a clinical educator for aEEG companies and this took her into NICUs around the world. In 2012, she took on the role of as NeuroNICU Program Consultant at Stanford University and since then, she has been planting NeuroNICUs, from Brazil to Bangkok, proving that a nursing license is a launchpad, not a ceiling.

As President and CEO of Synapse Care Solutions and the Neonatal Touch and Massage Certification Program, her life’s work centers on one thing: equipping NICU professionals to deliver neuro-protective, developmental, and family-centered care.

Through her “side business” RN Biz Hub, she mentors nurses in launching online businesses — blending business strategy with the power of technology and AI.

She believes every nurse is already a nurse influencer, and she built today’s presentation to prove it.

Please welcome to the stage, Kathi Randall.

Description: Dr. Ashraf Hamdan emphasizes the central role of X-rays in evaluating critically ill infants in the NICU, where rapid bedside imaging is essential for assessing many conditions commonly encountered in neonatal care. He reviews key radiographic findings and demonstrates quick, clinically integrated interpretation from a neonatologist's perspective, highlighting how X-ray assessment informs daily management of sick newborns. He presents X-ray features associated with common respiratory diseases in the NICU and discusses the use of imaging to evaluate central venous access, including typical line positions and complications frequently seen with these devices.
