Learning Outcome: Learners will increase their knowledge of how trauma-informed care intersects with justice, ethics, and moral courage in the NICU and how these principles can be applied in everyday clinical practice.
Description: Trauma-informed care is often described as meeting families where they are but care is not experienced as neutral by all families or clinicians. Structural inequities, bias, and institutional constraints shape everyday NICU practice, often contributing to moral distress and emotional exhaustion. Ms. Coughlin explores the connection between trauma-informed care, justice, and moral courage in neonatal practice. Through practical scenarios, reflective prompts, and trauma-informed frameworks, participants will gain tools to navigate ethically complex moments with clarity, compassion, and professional integrity without shame, blame, or burnout.
