Purpose Statement:
This article addresses the pathophysiology, risk factors, signs and symptoms and treatment of persistent pulmonary hypertension with an emphasis on a systematic approach to managing this complex disease.

Learning Outcome:
Upon completion of this activity the learner will be able to describe the pathophysiology of persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN) and identify a bundle of evidence-based interventions for managing PPHN in neonates.
